12 Nights of Christmas at the Groveland Tap 12/12-12/23
The Groveland Tap was one of my parents and their friends’ favorite hangouts during college, so I grew up going there for burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and to watch my dad lose in pool to his best friend Chris bi-monthly. Known for their Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese dip, Stroganoff burger, skillet brownie, and fries, the Groveland Tap is always an above-par dinner spot. On top of the incredible food and throw-back-to-college vibe, the Tap is celebrating the holidays with 12 Night of Christmas in which they’ll feature a new bear every night until the 23rd. Take a peek at their event page to see the lineup and to plan which day(s) you’re goin’ out for a burger and beer this week!
Inline Skating at U.S. Bank Stadium 12/19
Get a pre-holiday party workout in this Wednesday, head to U.S. Bank Stadium for some inline skating. Leisure skating runs from 5-8pm, and costs $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and children under 5 skate for free. If you’re the cousin who takes the family football game after Thanksgiving a bit too seriously, athletic skating runs from 8-9pm. Stadium staff asks that you bring your own skates and safety equipment. I ask that you wear purple and gold – Skol Vikes!
Hot Wheels Races 12/19
Flat Earth Brewing Company is hosting, quite possibly the coolest event I’ve come across to date – this Wednesday, beginning at 6pm, the brewery is having Hot Wheels Race night. You may bring your own car or use one that they provide. The only rule is that modification of cars is not allowed. Meaning, no aftermarket high-flow exhaust or no cold-air intake installations allowed (aka no greasing/graphite). There will be two divisions, under 18 and 18+, so bring the whole family!
Insight Brewing, T-Rex Cookie Company, and the band Too Many Banjos are collaborating to bring you Cookie Casks, Cookies, and Bluegrass this Thursday at Insight Brewery. There will be the tapping of 4 kegs made with T-Rex’s cookies, sampling and selling fresh cookies, playing live music, and BEER. Try your hand at the classic carnival striker game, the game with the big hammer where you try and make the bell ring, as well. The group shares, “We’ll bring the beer. Your presence counts as a present.”
Helicopter Rides at Holman’s Table 12/22
2019 is approaching quickly, but it’s not too late to cross an item off your 2018 bucket list. See St.Paul from above the clouds – take a ride in a helicopter! Rides range from $50-$200 per person. I’ve heard Holman’s Table’s food is exceptional, and that their brunch is one of the best in the state too! Not into heights? A fancy flight followed by a fancy dinner would make the perfect Christmas gift, head to https://www.holmanstable.com/ to purchase a gift card.
