Because I’m still living vicariously through everyone who was in Monterey Car Week a couple weekends ago, it only seemed fair to share a few more galleries and articles that popped up in the past week. One of the best I’ve seen was from Classic Driver with all of their favorite cars from the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Road & Track created two awesome photo sets highlighting the most beautiful cars to roll onto the fairway at Pebble Beach while the other photo set shares all of the most interesting cars to be raced in anger over at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Road & Track also took time over Car Week to interview two motor racing legends: Sir Jackie Stewart and Tom Kristensen. Petrolicious also shared a handful of awesome galleries and articles from a few of the events they covered during the week as well.
We all get a little bored sometimes with the usual routine. Take your daily commute, for example, where you wake up every day and take the same route to the same place. Ken Block desperately needed to get out of that cycle. He felt like he was just going in circles, his life just spinning around, and around, and around, until one day, he decided to shake things up and go on a road trip. So he took his car to a brand new place, miles and miles away from his daily routine and he had the time of his life! I mean, just watch the video and see how much fun he’s having!
Back in July, I had the opportunity to tag along with our resident rally co-driver, Scott Putnam to the Mt. Washington Climb to the Clouds in Gorham, NH. The hill climb event was sponsored by Subaru and of course, they brought out their pair of hot shoes, David Higgins and Travis Pastrana to try and shatter the previous record. I don’t want to spoil the video, but it was absolutely awesome to watch everyone who competed that day as they tried to make it up the mountain and set the fastest time in their class, and obviously, watching Pastrana absolutely fly up the hill on what became his record-setting run was something I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
Ever wonder what goes into powder coating a set of wheels, or any other parts for that matter? Engineering Explained put together this interesting video showing just how a powder coating shop preps and coats a set of wheels and how the right wheels can really make a car pop. I never realized just how technical the process was, having assumed it was more similar to painting a set of wheels. But instead, it involves lots of SCIENCE! So go and watch the video and nerd out with me for the next few minutes.
