Growing up there was no better incentive than “Free Samples” to get me to go grocery shopping with Mom on Sunday afternoons. Heck, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t recently make a pit stop at Kowalski’s on the way home from church just to see which gourmet cheese and cracker combo they had for me to try.

If you’re a sucker for free samples like me, I’ve got just the place for you! The Rotary Club of White Bear’s annual Taste of White Bear this Saturday, September 8th, head out to Pine Tree Apple Orchard and spend the entire day sampling the best food and drinks of White Bear.

There will be over a dozen food vendors at the orchard handing out tastes of their most loved foods. Some that I’m most excited for are the famous Grandma’s Bakery, Manitou Grill, Tria Restaurant and Uptown Girl Cupcakes and Desserts. Grandma’s makes the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life, just sayin’! The kids I nannied last summer would agree, they asked daily if we could stop there for a treat after practice. By the end of summer we concluded that our favorites were the maple glazed long john and the apple fritter, maybe they’ll have samples at Taste of White Bear!

There will also be a handful of breweries wineries and distilleries at the food fest too. Some of the most anticipated drink vendors are Glen Moray, Robert Mondavi Winery, Bad Weather Brewing Co. and Lift Bridge Brewing Co.! I recently tried Lift Bridge’s Mini Donut beer at the State Fair, and it was oddly delicoius. Although it’s unlikely you’ll get to sample that one, I was impressed and I’d bet their other beers are equally as enjoyable!

The Rotary Club also puts together a huge silent auction to raise money for local Rotary projects with a handful of impressive items for bid. There will be live music and plenty of conversation, buy your ticket here, you don’t want to miss out on this fun summer spot!
