Fall Spot – MN Zoo Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

It’s October, let the Halloween festivities begin!

Start the spooky season off with a trip to the Minnesota Zoo for their Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. Whether you want to go in the pitch black of the night with buddies and or at dawn with the little ones, there’ll certainly be fitting day and time; the event is open every day of the week through Halloween from 7:00pm-10:00pm and until 11:00pm on weekends.

What makes it so ‘spectacular’, you ask? Imagine 5,000, yes five THOUSAND, lit up carved pumpkins. The jack-o-lanterns are propped on rickety fences, hanging from leafless trees, stacked on top of one another across a quarter mile trail through the zoo. How can that be anything less than spectacular?!

Now, we’re going to switch gears (car pun intended) because Fall Spot posts always include a place to fill your belly. Jensen’s Cafe is the perfect place to go after a walk through the path of pumpkins, and it’s just a short 7 mile drive from the MN Zoo. Don’t worry, I did thorough research, and their food looks delicious! They’re known for all-day breakfasts, which is exactly what I’d be ordering. Some items you could choose from are a hot and sticky, caramel-drenched roll, thick-cut-bacon and chipotle-hollandaise sauce topped eggs benedict, or their housemade apple, brown sugar and cinnamon-laced bread. They have an abundance of different types of omelets, pancakes, waffles and french toast (even stuffed!) as well, take a look at their menu for yourself!

Their dinner menu has a plethora of non-breakfast options as well. The Jensen’s Club is mouthwatering – real smokehouse ham, turkey, thick-cut smoked bacon, real Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo served on Twelve Grain bread. Shamelessly, two of my favorite things in the world are appropriately greasy cheese curds and a massive, juicy black and bleu burger – my stomach grumbling is looking at Jensen’s Cafe’s renditions of these classic foods. The restaurant offers salads and sandwiches of all sorts, fried chicken, fish and steak entrees. There are even close to a dozen Mexican dishes as well, including street tacos, chimichangas, and nachos – delicioso!

The only thing that could make your evening better is a bootiful (oh so punny) car, how about a ’71 Corvette?!
