1968 Chevy Camaro 2018-08-27T12:00:26+00:00

Project Description

OVERVIEW

There are few things that feel more free and relaxing than cruising your favorite stretch of road on a warm, summer evening in a convertible with the top down. With no distractions, you can connect with both the car and the outside world around you. With the soft-top folded back, you not only feel the wind in your hair but you can better enjoy the burbling V8 under the long, iconic hood in front of you. Not only will you enjoy driving this beautiful ’68 Camaro but everyone you pass will have a smile on their face too.

While this Camaro doesn’t have the free-revving heart of a true sports car, it puts the power to the ground well. Acceleration is brisk but it’s more about feeling the connection between the car and the road ahead than it is about lap times or stoplight drags. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly, making this classic white over black muscle car cruise with ease. No matter where you’re headed, there’s no denying you’ll enjoy getting there in this gorgeous ’68 Camaro.

Despite being 50 years old, it sure doesn’t feel that old from behind the wheel!

A LOOK IN THE REAR VIEW

Aside from an 8-year break between 2002 and 2010, the Camaro nameplate has been around for over 50 years. It’s one of the most iconic vehicles today, and all of that was paved by the first-generation Camaro that hit showrooms in September 1966. All it took was one year for Chevrolet to realize they had a hit on their hands with well over 200,000 Camaros sold. Clearly, Chevy’s entry into the pony car segment was a success and it spawned the Pontiac Firebird as well.

Available with either a 6-cylinder or a range of V8 options, the Camaro had 4 trim levels, from the base model (like we see here) to the RS, SS, and Z/28. Much like the Camaro nameplate itself, these trims have survived even in modern times, as have the engine options ranging from a newer turbocharged 4-cylinder to a V6, as well as multiple V8s available today.

Maybe it’s that classic formula of a sleek, stylish body over a powerful engine with just enough room for a family of four that has continued to spell success for Chevrolet some 50+ years after its creation.
